Dan Hurley Going To Kentucky

UConn's Dan Hurley Declines Kentucky Coaching Offer

Eight candidates remain in the running to replace John Calipari

University of Connecticut head coach Dan Hurley has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Kentucky Wildcats head coaching position. The move comes as no surprise, as Hurley has repeatedly stated his desire to remain at UConn.

Kentucky is one of the most prestigious programs in college basketball, and the Wildcats have been looking for a new head coach since John Calipari announced his retirement at the end of the season. Hurley was one of the top candidates for the job, but he ultimately decided to stay at UConn.

Hurley has been at UConn since 2018, and he has led the Huskies to two NCAA Tournament appearances in that time. He has also won two American Athletic Conference regular season championships and one AAC Tournament championship.

With Hurley out of the running, there are now eight candidates remaining for the Kentucky job. The other candidates include:

  • Leonard Hamilton (Florida State)
  • Nate Oats (Alabama)
  • Tony Bennett (Virginia)
  • Scott Drew (Baylor)
  • Mark Few (Gonzaga)
  • Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
  • Shaka Smart (Marquette)
